Initial Proposal at a Glance

New Year Goals Mind Map-2.png

As of March 1st 2018, the City Hall of New Rochelle anticipates relocating to the downtown location in 2021, currently in construction, at 45 Harrison Street. The plan set by the city was to repurpose the old complex into "more classrooms, administrative and programming space"

We believe this building can maximize its potential by becoming an additional school. Parents and teachers have noticed increased class sizes and sought out solutions for years. This would create the exact amount of schools needed to house one grade each.

Since the move was scheduled to be in 2021, we are accounting for delays that may be a result of the coronavirus pandemic or any other logistical issues.

That is why we propose for our plan into action following the 2022-2023 school year. This would allot enough time to prepare and we would like this to be carried through as soon as possible.

The unequal distribution of resources has already negatively impacted the lives of many.

Let us start the change as soon as we can.

In regards to room usage and facilities, we believe that this is the most effective plan. Our large class sizes of approximately 900 per grade require large schools to house all students comfortably as well as to keep an appropriate student-to-teacher ratio.
