I went to ward, ALMS and then graduated NRHS in 2008. I went to Binghamton University for Undergrad and have been teaching in Newark, NJ For the past 8 years. One anecdote that I’ll share is that in high school, I remember doing an after school homework help program at Jefferson Elementary School. I remember being really struck by the big disparity in resources between Ward and Jefferson. I kept on thinking to myself that “it just wasn’t right that another kid growing up in new rochelle would have such a different educational experience than me.”Up until I did the program at Jefferson I always knew I wanted to be a teacher but after my experience at Jefferson compelled me to want to teach in an underserved community.
